Department of Human Development Established In 8 Aug 1966.The Department of Human Development was previously known as the Department of Child Development. The dedicated Principal Dr. Kusum Mehta was the encouraging person behind the establishment of the Home Science faculty.
History
Under the New Education Policy 2020, Personality Development introduced as a vocational subject at the undergraduate level. The department is renowned as a nurturing center for many Human Developmentlist who are active in the teaching profession throughout India. The faculty motivates students to engage in research, curricular, and extracurricular activities to enhance their intrinsic and extrinsic capabilities. The department comprises a dedicated team of 6 teachers, 4 of whom hold Ph.D degrees, with two currently pursuing their research after registration. Over the years, the department has had distinguished subject experts as staff members, and many alumni have held important positions in reputed institutions or government jobs in India . The department is recognized as a research center under the jurisdiction of Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur. The faculty actively participate in guiding research work in various fields such as Personality traits, Person with special needs, parent behaviour and attitudes.developmental challenges ,developmental areas , adulthood etc . A large number of Ph.D's are produced under the guidance of Dr. Geeta Shukla and Dr. Abha Tiwari.
The department boasts a rich PG library . Teachers are also actively involved in the publication of books, magazines, and research papers under renowned publications.
It is a matter of great Pride that Dr Abha Tiwari Head of the Department of Human Development has been awarded the excellent teacher award by the Higher Education Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Progress of the Department
At present there are five faculty members holding PhD degree and two faculty members are guiding students pursuing PhD course. The staff members reorient themselves by attending national seminars, workshops & visiting various places.. The staff members also attend conferences as resource persons, chairpersons and specialist guests for lectures on hot burning issues of today. Presenting of research papers is a routine factor of the members. Research papers are also published in the latest journals and magazines.
